In a lighthouse far out to sea lived Albert, the lighthouse-keeper, and Tibby, an old cat. All year round they lived in a cozy room near the top of the lighthouse. For Albert and his cat, Tibby, had to make quite sure that the light shone brightly across the sea all the time, and never ever went out!
Tibby and Albert were never lonely, they had each other for company. Once in a week, a boat came over from mainland to deliver letter and parcels. The crew always brought a big basket of groceries for Albert, and lots of tins of tuna for Tibby, because tuna was his favorite!
Sometimes when the sea was very rough, the boat couldn't tie up to the rocks. Then the crew didn't visit the lighthouse that week. Instead Albert and Tibby hauled the basketful of groceries on a rope up to the top window. They took out all their groceries, and then sent the empty basket back down on the rope to the waiting boat...
