微生物 Microorganisms（六年级 科学 ）

MICROORGANISMS :

Microorganisms (Microbes)[微生物 weisheng wu4]:- 

• Very small organisms which cannot be seen with the naked eye.
• May be unicellular or multicellular
• May exist alone like amoeba, or in colonies like Fungi & Bacteria.
• Found in all kinds of environment like cold climate, hot springs, deserts, marshy lands etc. They are also found inside the bodies of other organisms. ( bacteria  in our colon)

Types of microorganisms [微生物 weisheng wu4]:-

1) Bacteria[细菌xi4 jun]: Pus on our skin. bacteria on our skin. A prokaryotic(lack a distinct nucleus) microorganism.

2) Fungi 【真菌 zhen jun]】: Bread mould, Penicillium, saprophytic 【腐生 细菌】。

3) Algae【藻类 zao3 lei4】 : Chlamydomonas, Spirogyra . Make their own food by photosynthesis.

4) Protozoan[原生动物 yuan2 sheng dong4 wu4] : Amoeba, Paramaecium。

5) Virus [病毒bing4 du2]: Viruses are different from other microorganisms as they reproduce only in the body of host organisms. Virus is a submicroscopic infectious agent that is unable to reproduce outside a host cell. It is non cellular.
